We believe the best ideas for solving systemic inequality are already inside our communities. We help bring them to life.

ABOUT US

Cambio Labs is a nonprofit innovation lab on a mission to democratize entrepreneurship and economic mobility. We empower underrepresented youth and public housing residents with the tools, training, and networks they need to launch ventures, land jobs, and lead change.

Our programs blend hands-on learning, digital tools, and real-world mentorship—because we don’t just want to teach business, we want to build economic power from the ground up.

We run high-impact, equity-driven programs across four key tracks:

Entrepreneurship as Community Power

Cambio Social Entrepreneurship Incubator for Youth:

  • Our 12-week flagship program introduces middle and high school students to social entrepreneurship through hands-on learning in design thinking, business modeling, and storytelling.

StartUp NYCHA:

  • Co-designed with NYCHA residents and tenant leaders, this 6-month business accelerator supports public housing residents—especially women of color—in launching income-generating ventures. Participants receive business training, mentorship, and microgrant funding, while building lasting community connections.

Who We Serve

We prioritize underestimated, low-income entrepreneurs who have historically been excluded from economic opportunity and tech-driven futures. Our participants are innovators, parents, caregivers, immigrants, artists, activists, and learners in our communities.

Our Story

Founded by Sebastián Martín, a former educator and the son of immigrant entrepreneurs. After seeing firsthand, how low-income entrepreneurs lacked access to the tools, mentors, and opportunities needed for success, he began to envision a different future. A future in which young people could be introduced to entrepreneurship early on, without the burden of debt or the challenges of learning on their own. In response, he launched Cambio Labs, a program designed to make entrepreneurship more accessible, inclusive, and transformative for the next generation.

2019

Cambio Labs’ began its first contract was with Prep for Prep, even before the formal launch.

2020

2021

In 2021, at the height of the pandemic, Martín officially launched Cambio Labs. Cambio Labs began by delivering a tech-enabled platform, Journey, paired with a social entrepreneurship curriculum, to schools and community organizations with the goal of developing an effective access program that equips young people with the 21st-century business skills they need to thrive.

Cambio Labs started it’s first in school partnership with the charter school Comp Sci high. Later that year, the organization expanded its reach to adult learners through a partnership with The Ready Center, a renewable energy nonprofit in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

2022

Cambio Labs expanded programming to NYC public schools such as the Lab School of Finance and Technology in the Bronx

2023

Startup NYCHA, a community-based entrepreneurship program co-designed with NYCHA residents was launched bringing Cambio Labs deeper into the community.

2024

Today, Cambio Labs is building a future where opportunity is not dictated by privilege. Where education and entrepreneurship are accessible anytime, anywhere

Today

“I dream of a future where every child — no matter their income, ZIP code, or background — has access to the kind of care and education that all children should have.”
Sebastian Martin, Founder of Cambio Labs
