Where do you actually take plastic bottles for CRV in the Sacramento area?
I have a few bags of bottles and cans sitting in the garage and I have never redeemed CRV before. Not sure how the payout is calculated or what condition the containers need to be in. Where do people usually go around here, and is it worth the trip?

I looked into this recently since I had the same pile building up. From what I gathered the refund is not a flat number, it depends on material, size, weight, and whatever rate is posted that day, so two similar loads can pay out differently. Keeping labels visible seems to matter, since eligibility gets checked before anything is weighed. I ended up comparing a couple of bottle recycling centers before going anywhere, mostly to see which ones were clear about what they accept. Ivan's in Citrus Heights was one of the more straightforward ones I found, they take CRV aluminum, plastic, and glass, and the drop off process was described plainly rather than buried in fine print. I also noticed they run a small bonus on aluminum on Tuesdays, which is minor but worth timing if you are going anyway. My general take is to sort everything at home first and check current posted rates before loading the car, since that is what actually determines the payout.
